Kōtuku Rerengātahi
He aha?/What
Kōtuku Rerengātahi is a one day school model born out of a desire to provide an extension program for tamariki who already have some Te Reo or understanding of tikanga. Since we started with our first pilot class in 2020, the class has grown from a half day to a full day exploration of Te Ao Māori.
The class has grown in popularity and now has 30 children who attend each week. Our class has children from year 2-6 as we believe the tuakana-teina model approach to learning is very important for our tamariki. The class is whānau focused and whānau as a whole must commit to the class, including attendance at whānau hui, noho marae, fundraising initiatives and participating in class sessions when possible.
Ko wai?/Our Kaiako/Teachers
Whaea Rayleen and Whaea Teana are the kaiako with the support of Whaea Lee. We deliver a tikanga Māori, bilingual programme for tamariki.
Te Haerenga Akoranga / The learning journey
Children will learn through a range of these activities each week.
